INTERESING FACTS:
1. Stevie Wonder became blind from being placed in an incubator at birth, the incubator
contained too much oxygen which caused cataracts to grow in his eyes, leaving him to be blind
2. At birth his real name was Steveland Hardaway Judkins
3. At the age of 12 Stevie Wonder signed with Motown and was called “Little Stevie Wonder”
4. When Stevie Wonder was 13 years old he released his first U.S number 1 hit, which is still the youngest artist to have a number one single.
5. Stevie Wonder is the first black person to win a Grammy award for best album of the year, which he repeated for 3 consecutive albums
6. In 1969 he received the “Distinguished Service Award” from president Nixon
7. Was in a coma for 10 days due to a car accident in 1973
8. 1974 November 18th is declared Stevie Wonder Day in Los Angeles
9. He is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
10. 2008 he received the NAACP Hall of Fame Award
11. Throughout his career has won 22 Grammy awards, an all time record for a solo artist
12. Has won 2 Gershwin Prize for Popular Song
